Why are people so accepting of Science but so dismissive of Magic? Humans are such fascinating creatures with a deep desire to explore and learn. But this thirst for knowledge is often coupled with a fear of the unexplainable.
I’m Savannah Alalia, and welcome to the latest episode of High Functioning Human podcast where you connect to yourself as a high functioning human.
Science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke wrote, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” The sweet spot for me is having one foot in each world, the known and the mysterious.
Unfortunately, throughout history, those who possessed knowledge beyond the accepted scientific norms are often met with persecution and fear. Before we understood modern medical care, women who healed with plants and nature were often demonised and labelled as witches and even burned at the stake. These days, trolling is the new witch hunt. It’s still around, it just has a different form.
It was easier to call it dark magic than to accept that these women understood something beyond what the eyes could see.
When it comes to things beyond what the eyes can see, did you know that the first surgeries were performed without sterile procedures or even basic hygiene and hand washing? It’s unsurprising that few survived these early attempts. Obviously, this attitude might sound crazy to you now, but it was completely normal at the time. Because this idea of microscopic organisms, things beyond what your eyes can see, causing a disease, was unimaginable, almost magical. The emergence of germ theory changed this, and yes, it was revolutionary at the time, but it was also met with skepticism.
And yet true scientists are willing to embrace new knowledge when it appears. However, it’s understandable that those who have spent their entire professional lives operating under one set of rules may resist when these rules begin to evolve. Change can be unsettling, especially when it challenges your deeply held beliefs.
So how does this relate to you and your journey to becoming a High Functioning Human? Well, we’re living in such an exciting time. There are a lot of rules that are being broken and changed and some are even being thrown out.
There’s an old doctor’s joke, if a man comes and says there’s something wrong, there’s a 50% chance that there’s something wrong. But if he comes in and says, my wife has sent me here, then there’s an almost 100% chance that something is wrong. Intuition is often associated with the feminine, and it can be a powerful indicator of truth.
Intuition is about trusting that you know what’s going on beyond physical proof or beyond reasoning. It’s tapping into a deeper awareness that is sometimes unexplainable by our current scientific standards. I’m so passionate about these messages that your body sends. And I often say your body talks. And by that I mean your body holds a kind of wisdom or memory that science is only just beginning to comprehend.
So where do you think your intuition or that your inner magic is coming from?
As you probably know, one of my favourite things to explore is your connection with your fascia, the connective tissue that envelops every part of your body. And fascia is really at the forefront of scientific and medical advancement at the moment. Recent research shows that your fascia plays a significant role in your communication throughout your body, transmitting signals even faster than nerves. Maybe that intuitive magic is really your fascia communicating with you. This is obviously something that really, really excites me, because for years, fascia was overlooked, much like those early healers or witches who were misunderstood.
Let me share some more magic with you.
What if I told you that there are people who’ve had heart transplants experiencing new memories and noticing a distinct change in their personality and favorite foods? There’s now a research study looking at the memory of heart cells, exploring this. This is the early stages of science beginning to catch up with what still sounds magical. The ability of other cells in your body to store, retain and share memories and experiences is so fascinating. And it’s what I’ve always known and believed from the work that I’ve done on my own with fascia and on others.
By connecting to and beginning to understand and listen to your inner voice, the gut feeling that guides you, you tap into the wisdom that transcends logical reasoning. My larger program Your Intuitive Life goes deeply into exploring what life can look like when you learn to listen to your body and its signals. There really is no limit to the things that we can discover about the potential of what your body is capable of.
Dreams are something that have always had an air of magic to them, especially the ones where you find yourself flying. But can you imagine sharing a dream with someone else? Amazing. Recent studies are showing that people can communicate telepathically during REM sleep. So where does this communication come from? Well, I’ve been keeping a close eye on some scientists speaking about the ability of your fascia to hold electricity and to be charged. So let’s see what comes out of that, but I have my suspicions.
Energy is such a remarkable force, and the boundary between science and magic is often just a matter of perspective and understanding. What if listening to your body could unlock these insights beyond your logical reasoning to bring the magic into your life? Engaging in fascia release techniques can help you access stored emotions and memories and promote connection on a full body level. My Your Face Symmetry programs are designed to guide you through this transformative process.
In my own journey, I’ve experienced moments where intuition led me to solutions that science would have been unable to explain at the time. When you’ve had experiences like that, acknowledging that there are powerful forces beyond measurement or visibility, like your intuition and your energy is so obvious and it can profoundly impact your life.
I encourage you to spend some time each day tuning into your body. Notice sensations without judgment. Embrace that magic within you.
By staying curious and open minded, you allow yourself to grow. What may seem like magic today could be tomorrow’s scientific breakthrough.
Remember, trust your instincts and follow your intuition because the world needs your voice and the magic it brings to us all.

OH I loved this! I’m hooked on this topic now. My heart, my gut, or wherever intuition lives – (I guess in the fascia?) – is telling me that there is something big here. Thanks Savannah!
