Yup, a Roll Me Open just for the stomach! [RMO] U-TUM is repurposed vintage wood – wood you like one? – the perfect shape for getting into your tumtum and releasing tension.
I’m sure you’re wondering, ‘Is it safe to roll on my stomach? Will it hurt my organs?’ Rest assured, my lovelies, when done correctly, it is perfectly safe and is, in fact, beneficial. You will take it nice and slow and gently ease into the tension using your breath.
When you have someone massage you, they decide how much pressure to use, and it’s up to you to tell them if it’s too much. But with the U-TUM, you decide how deep you want to go – no worries about having to tell a massage therapist they’re going too hard! How deep you go is entirely up to you – you’re the boss here! You manage the level of pressure you apply to your stomach with your arms, and you can go lighter or deeper – the choice is yours.
And here’s some science: According to the American Massage Therapy Association, massage therapy can have a positive effect on the physical, mental, and social well-being of people. It’s thought to improve overall health and wellness. Yay for that!
Know that if done slowly and with care, this deep approach to your abdomen is always only going to be good. Listen carefully to your body and if it’s too intense, use your arms to take your body weight up – but eventually, you should be able to put your full body weight on it and be fully relaxed.
As you form a Roll Me Open U-TUM daily ritual, you may notice a variation in the areas of tension in the abdominal cavity. This can relate to your physical, emotional and energetic well-being. We’re gonna get a bit woo for a second: let’s look to the energy centres of the body, called chakras. The two chakras that are most disturbed in our modern-day life are the sacral and solar plexus chakras, the ones located around your abdominal area. Opening and releasing these areas daily can help you establish boundaries in your relationship or career, as well as increase your confidence and personal power.
It’s a handy size and travels easily, so you can even use it following flights or long car journeys.
Roll Me Open U-TUM is made out of reclaimed wood.
You apply as much pressure as you choose at your own pace
You could book a single decent deep tissue back massage for an hour at a quarter of the cost, and have the pleasure of scheduling it, maybe a week after you need it if you’re lucky.
And then the day comes, and you get ready, have a shower, shave your legs, get dressed and travel to your massage therapist, sit in the waiting area, make small talk, reach that zen vibe – ah, that was worth it! Then you get back in your car, deal with traffic – and probably lose your zen-like bliss – have a shower to get the oil off you and book it in all over again.
Or for the price of a couple massages …
You could have a tool in your home that you can use for life. You can have a massage every day, even a couple of times a day if you needed it. You start to learn your body, open stubborn areas and release long-standing tension, achieve that zen-like bliss anytime you like, without having to get out of your pyjamas – or even wear anything at all. (But that’s up to you, of course. Wink.) No travel time, no traffic, no oil to wash off afterwards. Zen all the way!
I dunno, I love an in-person massage and will have a three-hour session once a month or so, but my Roll Me Open U-TUM is a daily massage, meditation and check-in that is invaluable for my personal growth, available any time I want!
I am the creator of Roll Me Open, Savannah Alalia (that’s me in the picture). I’ve been called a world-renowned bodyworker, Habit Strategist, and Intuition Leadership Coach, and I’ve been doing all these wonderful things for over 25 years. I created and developed the Roll Me Open tools to allow me and my clients to have the power of health in our own hands and to continue to open our bodies between massages.
Simply put, I would say my Roll Me Open products give you a simple and effective way to relax, open and check in with your body daily. It’s a no-brainer in terms of feeling good.
